EXCLUSIVE: Cummins Power Generation Goes Off-Grid

Cummins Inc. is charging into the portable energy market with new backup power solutions.

Karla Haack, consumer power generation sales vice president in North America, said Cummins is proud to introduce Onan’s power stations to provide sustainable, battery-powered electricity.

“Cummins is a brand both home and RV owners trust for backup power, and our new power stations will provide this same reliable energy source, designed in lightweight, easy-to-transport models,” Haack said.

Onan Power Stations are silent, fume-free and low maintenance, the company said, and designed to be accessible and used off-grid. The unit’s lithium batteries are recharged with a 110-volt plug, automotive axillary outlet, or Onan solar panels.

Carol Ann Smith, marketing and communications manager at Cummins, said the company expanded its portable power product line after successfully launching portable generators in 2019.

“These power stations are small, transportable and very attractive for people needing on-the-go power, or in some cases, to power smaller electronics like CPAP machines when they experience power outages,” Smith said.

The Onan PS160, the smallest model, can charge a smartphone up to 17 times without needing a charge. Cummins’ largest power station model, the Onan PS1000, can deliver power for hours to appliances such as LED televisions and refrigerators. Additionally, Cummins backs the units with a 24-hour customer support network.

“Dealers have been excited to add this product line to their portfolios after already experiencing success with our portable gas and dual-fuel powered portable generators,” Smith said.

The power stations are shipping nationwide. For more information, click here.
