Dave Carter & Associates broke ground Jan. 12 on a new 68,000-square-foot distribution space in Goshen, Indiana.
As an addition to the company’s existing warehouse, President David J. Carter III said the expansion will bolster the company’s ability to keep up with product demand. It will provide additional space to house new suppliers and products.
“It has been something we have been working on and planning since mid-last year,” Carter said. “The timing comes from exponential growth in RV demand due to Covid, believe it or not, and we are also bringing on a lot of new vendors and product lines. [The space] will help us prepare for that, and prepare for looking in the future.”
The company recently partnered with Go Power! by Valterra Products, a solar panel manufacturer. Carter said the company’s products are an example of a new line whose introduction to the company created five new jobs.
“As demand grew, [the company] saw a 10 (percent) to 15 percent increase in new hires in distribution centers,” Carter said.
“We knew that the industry was growing, and our goal is to grow significantly in the next five years,” he said.
Nuway Construction, a design-build general contractor in Goshen, was chosen to complete the project when the contract was signed in October 2020.
“In 2018, we completed a 60,000-square-foot building addition for Dave Carter & Associates,” President Andy Nesbitt stated. “Through well-planned and controlled expansions, their space requirements have increased despite the 2020 challenges many companies have faced. We are proud that as the RV market has flourished, Dave Carter & Associates looked to partner with us again to expand their facility.”
The company plans similar future expansions across the country, Carter said. The Goshen-based addition is expected to open this August.
“We are excited for a new year, and really proud of the people in our industry and how they have prepared during a hard time,” Carter said. “It is really exciting to see all of us continuing and growing. Just an amazing site to see with what we just went through.”
