EXCLUSIVE: Distributor Program to Improve Product Access

Cody Talbert Distribution launched a program to provide specific roof replacement lengths. The program solves rubber roof replacement and repair challenges in central Florida.

Cody Talbert President Erik Guldager said the program improves customer service by providing customers individually sized rubber roof lengths.

Guldager said customers can place an order requesting a replacement piece with specific measurements. The custom-sized order eliminates buying a pre-cut material roll. The specific size request also cuts material waste and its related cost. The process’ intent also includes a faster delivery time.

Guldager said, “We saw a need to provide a better way to service that service market segment.”

Once an order is placed, Cody Talbert employees select one of four fabric rolls mounted on an A-frame rack. Once measured, the fabric is cut on the company’s custom cutting table. Even with the shipping cost, Guldager said customers will save because they buy only the fabric length they need.

The replacement roof will be shipped to customers for delivery. Guldager said the company plans to use traditional delivery methods for local customers. Products will be delivered to customers outside central Florida using FedEx and UPS’ overnight service.

“Our company goal of providing customer service that people used to get,” Guldager said, “fits right in with this project.”

Guldager became company president in August. With 20 years of industry sales experience before his new role, Guldager said he wanted the company to be known for customer service.

Guldager worked with distributors over the last 20 years in previous sales positions. His experience shaped his plans for running Cody Talbert Distribution.

Cody Talbert Distribution serves around 25-30 customers. The company’s main focuses are dealership service departments, mobile technicians and repair shops. According to Guldager, the company has around 24,000 SKUs with more arriving weekly.

Guldager said the company is working toward “the expansion of our customer base and the continued building of the proper inventory within our company.”

Guldager said more projects similar to the rubber roof program are in store.
