Gen-Y Hitch is providing RV transport and tow vehicle drivers with a solution to convert from gooseneck to fifth wheel towing: the Advantage Combo Hitch.
Gen-Y International Sales Manager Thomas Cole said the hitch was created for those who pull gooseneck trailers and fifth wheels. To swap between the two hitches, consumers typically must move a fifth wheel hitch, which can weigh up to 300 pounds.
Cole said, “We call it the Advantage Combo Hitch because the biggest advantage is not having to remove the fifth wheel head every time you want to go pull a gooseneck trailer.”
The Advantage Combo Hitch switches between the two connections with the pull of four pins.
A pin is on each side of the hitch. To switch from fifth wheel to gooseneck, drivers pull out the four pins, slide the fifth wheel head forward towards the truck cab, and replace the pins. To switch to a fifth wheel hitch, a consumer removes the pins and pulls the fifth wheel hitch toward the truck’s tailgate.
The new hitch comes in four SKUs. One version includes a base plate and a PullRite fifth wheel head. The other three SKUs are sold as base plates accommodating Curt Q&A Series, B&W Trailer Hitches and Reese hitches.
The Advantage Combo Hitch has a 25,000-pound towing capacity and is coated in a black powder. The hitch is crafted in Gen-Y’s facility in Nappanee, Indiana. According to the supplier, the hitch is maintenance-free.
