Florida-based PowerMax Converters has increased its power solution line, adding the PMJS series jump starter to the company’s products.

The new, lightweight jump starter is ideal for powering any 12-volt battery, and with 2000-amps peak power, it can readily start up to V8 diesel engines, the company said.

PowerMax President Errin Tribble said the starter weighs just over 4 pounds and is more convenient to carry than typical starters that can be over 60 pounds.

“This is something you can just grab and go. You can carry it with you at all times,” Tribble said. “It is smaller, less expensive, long lasting and it actually has a bit more power than our competitors.”

The starter was originally designed for the automotive industry until PowerMax representatives were approached by a dealer during an aftermarket trade show who raved about the product’s possibilities.

“An RV dealer grabbed it and said, ‘We can actually order a ton of these, because on the RV lots when the batteries are dead, this is a simple, easy power pack to grab to run the slide outs, awnings and jacks. We can just put this on there and use it as a quick jumpstart to run all the accessories,’” Tribble said.

With its lithium polymer battery pack, the PMJS can hold a charge up to 10 times longer than common lead-acid jump starters. Other features include:

  • Power and error LED indicators
  • A LED internal battery level indicator
  • A work light with on/off switch
  • Works in extreme cold weather
  • Impact resistant up to a 3-foot drop
  • Advanced safety protection
  • Up to 40 jump starts per charge
  • USB port output 5-volt, 2.4-amp
  • DC port output 12-volt, 15-amp
  • Three-year warranty

Tribble said the jump starter is perfect for mobile service technicians who will appreciate its portability when RVs are in difficult to reach locations.

“It makes it just a quick jumpstart to run some of the 12-volt appliances inside of these RVs,” Tribble said. “You are getting more power at less cost and a longer warranty.”

The PMJS series is available through aftermarket distributors, online or by contacting a Derema representative.
