This year, Lance Camper brought back a new model from the past. The 805 truck camper was originally launched in 2004. The refined version is refocusing on a specific audience segment.
According to Lance Marketing Manager Jim Waters, the manufacturer is providing a lightweight and lower-priced RV for young consumers who are interested in off-roading.
Waters said, “We wanted to open up our brand to be more accessible to more people.”
Models were shipped at the beginning of April.
The 805 has a dry weight of 1,550 pounds and a 14.5-foot length.
The entry-level truck camper fits half-ton trucks such as the Ford F150, Chevy Silverado1500, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan.
He said, “It is lightweight enough to fit on pretty much every truck.”
Waters said the truck campers’ adaptability makes it beneficial for dealers to stock since several truck owners can use it.
In September, Lance debuted a prototype at Open House in Elkhart, Indiana. The manufacturer implemented changes after receiving dealer feedback.
The exterior graphics and the bathroom are the two features remaining from the prototype. While most Lance truck campers have indoor showers and toilets, the 805 features the 23Zero exterior shower enclosure and a Thetford Porta Potti. Waters said Lance received positive feedback on both aspects.
The 805 has a 10-gallon freshwater tank and a 20-gallon grey water tank. The 805 sleeps four people and has a 3.3-cubic-foot Norcold DE105 12-volt compressor refrigerator. The truck camper includes a 6-foot counter with a built-in sink and a two-burner propane-fueled cooktop. A U-shaped dinette is positioned across from the countertop. Modular lightweight load-carrying equipment (MOLLE) panels decorate the walls to provide storage. Manual jacks are standard on the 805. The truck camper comes with a Coleman-Mach air conditioner. Truma air conditioners can be substituted.
“We are really excited that the 805 is so versatile,” Waters said, “I think we are going to open a lot of people’s eyes to just truck camping in general.”
