Lippert is bringing a new suspension system to market, promising a 50% reduction in shock going into the RV frame compared with traditional leaf spring suspension systems.
The supplier’s Touring Coil Suspension (TCS) includes a coil spring and shock absorbers. TCS replaces the leaf spring suspension and reduces consumer maintenance. According to Lippert OEM Director of Marketing Hannah Corn, the maintenance reduction extends the RV’s life.
Lippert’s testing revealed that the system reduces shakedown in addition to rattling and vibration.
In conjunction with TCS’ release, Lippert will introduce a new fifth wheel pin box. The Helux Series Coil Spring Pin Box adopts the TCS coil spring to improve consumers’ towing experiences. TCS and the Helux pin box will be included as OE equipment in select 2025 models.
According to Corn, TCS resulted from the company’s search for ways to reduce consumer maintenance and enjoy their RV longer. Corn said air and rubber suspension systems require various maintenance steps, including frequently checking air seals or examining rubber for cracks. TCS maintenance includes occasionally greasing the coil.
Corn said TCS “gives a virtually maintenance-free, hassle-free towing experience that keeps you and your RV creating memories for years to come.”
The system accommodates travel trailers and fifth wheels. TCS has a 5,200-pound weight capacity per axle. The system is available in single or tandem-axle configurations. A powder coat provides corrosion resistance.
Lippert said the product’s durability will provide consumers with a long-term solution.
“We are very excited to bring this to market,” Corn said, “and very excited to give people a better, smoother ride and improve the longevity of their RV.”
Helux Series Coil Spring Pin Box
Lippert built its Helux Coil Spring Pin Box with the TCS coil spring. The company tested the pin box against pin boxes made by Lippert and competitors. The Helux pin box has 30% less shock absorption in the frame.
Corn said, “In conjunction with TCS, Helux works fabulously because you have both of those technologies working together in the front and the back to really even out those road events and how you are experiencing your tow.”
According to Lippert, the pin box has a smoother and gentler mount/dismount because it reduces aggressive bouncing and shifting and decreases chucking and jarring.
The Helux is available in standard kingpin and gooseneck versions with weight ratings up to 24,000 pounds. The pin box has a three-layer coating to prevent corrosion.
Corn said, “When (TCS and Helux) are working together, then you are going to get the most enhanced performance of each product.”
Both products are available to OEs, with Alliance and Keystone among the early adopters. Corn said the company’s goal is to provide the aftermarket with TCS options in the next 12 months.
