Meyer’s RV has purchased Bay RV in Joppa Maryland. Bay RV is full-service Maryland RV dealership located at 1002 Pulaski Highway near Interstate 95.

Acquiring the new store

The new dealership will be called Meyer’s Bay RV and will stock travel trailers, fifth wheels and motorhomes from leading manufacturers.

Meyers RV started working on the acquisition four months ago. Meyer’s RV President Mark Meyer heard that Bay RV wanted to sell through an acquaintance, Meyer said.

“We inquired with the dealer and set up a meeting. It took longer to close than anything else,” Meyer said. “Making the decision was easy for us. It seemed to be a good fit.”

Meyers RV acquired several RV brands by purchasing Bay RV. The store was also an excellent choice because it is the right size and it has a great location with high traffic, Meyer said.

“The addition of Bay RV will give us a very strong presence in the Maryland and southeastern Pennsylvania markets and be a great compliment to our existing Harrisburg, Pennsylvania store,” Meyer said. “We could not be happier to add another established family-owned business to our existing family. We look forward to continuing to provide the great customer service on which both Bay RV and Meyer’s RV have built their businesses.”

Bay RV’s legacy

Bay RV was started by the Kerfoot and Wroy families in 2010.

“As a family-owned and operated RV dealership, when it came time to retire, we wanted to sell Bay RV to a company that had the same family and customer values that we have,” Founders Tom Kerfoot and Sandy Wroy said “That’s exactly what we see in Meyer’s RV.”

Meyer’s Bay RV hired 20-year RV industry veteran Rob Yeager as its general sales manager. Yeager worked in RV Sales, Finance and management at his previous dealership.

“My favorite thing about working in the RV business is that we get to help folks make memories with their families,” Yeager said. “I cannot imagine doing anything else with my life right now and I’m especially happy to be working with a family-owned company like Meyer’s RV.”

Future plans

According to Meyer, dealership consolidation is a trend that is here to stay. However, current economic conditions “make you more cautious,” Meyer said.

“Things are definitely slowing up a bit. It is not what it was even six months ago. At the same time, there might be some thinning out too.” Meyer said. “We are sitting back and seeing what happens. We are not actively going after anything but when something comes across our desk and it fits, we look at it. If something makes sense, we go after it. If it looks like the wrong fit, we stay away from it.”

Meyer’s RV Superstores currently has nine retail locations in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and now Maryland. Meyer’s RV operates a full-service customer care facility located in Caledonia NY.

Meyer’s RV has plans to open three more locations by the end of 2022.
