The Mobile RV Technician Newsletter was launched last year to provide consumers with RV mobile technician information in remote locations in the U.S. and Canada. The newsletter currently has 1,600 subscribers.

Misty Sieger, the Mobile RV Technician Newsletter founder, created the newsletter after traveling with her husband Jamie, an RV mobile technician. The couple met RVers who said they had difficulty finding quality mobile RV techs because they did not have a reliable internet connection.

“When we got back home, I talked to Jamie and said, ‘I really want to start a directory,’” Misty Sieger said. “You have these tech locators that are great… the downfall is you have to have internet service.”

Mobile RV technicians can sign up to be listed in the newsletter’s directory and consumers can subscribe to the newsletter for no cost. On the 20th of each month, a hard copy of the newsletter is sent to subscribers with an updated mobile tech directory listing.

The organization also has a website for subscribers who want to find a technician electronically.

The mobile RV tech directory is organized alphabetically by state or province. Mobile technicians are listed under their state and region within that state. A mobile technician can be listed under more than one state or province and region if they travel to more than one area or are going to be in a specific region during a certain time of year.

At the directory’s debut, 20 mobile technicians were listed. It now contains about 300 mobile technician listings from across North America, Misty Sieger said. Most of the technicians are certified, she said.

The directory currently does not list a mobile technician in Hawaii, but technicians are  listed in many states and Alaska. Misty Sieger joked that several technicians have offered to travel to Hawaii if a mobile tech is needed, with expenses paid, of course.

In addition to mobile techs, the directory lists RV inspectors for those looking to buy a new or used RV.

Consumers find the newsletter through Facebook, Misty Sieger said. NRVTA includes information about the newsletter with its member resources. About eight to 10 mobile technicians are added to the directory a month through Facebook.

Jamie Sieger, owner of Sieger and Sons The Mobile RV Professionals, said being listed in the directory connects technicians with one another. They share knowledge, tips about where to source parts and OEM training schedules, he said.

He has received more than one call from a colleague whom he has referred to the directory, and that colleague was able to find a mobiletech in just the right area to get a consumer’s RV repaired and back on the road, he said.

The group started a national monthly RV tech get-together via Zoom two months ago. About 20 mobile RV technicians attend.

“We like to help people, and this is our way to give back to the RV community,” Jamie Sieger said. “It is such a close community and a family.”
