On Friday, a truck departed from RV Mobile Power’s (RVMP) headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, carrying supplies for victims in North Carolina affected by devastating Hurricane Helene, which caused chaos in Southeastern states Sept. 26 and 27.
Although the RV power supplier’s facilities are based in Ohio and Elkhart, Indiana, RVMP President Brian Carmichael said the company donated to North Carolina victims because of that region’s general unawareness about the hurricane. While states like Florida prepared for the storm’s rampage, Carmichael said Helene was not expected to hit North Carolina as hard as it did.
‘“The Golden Rule’ is part of our mission,” Carmichael said. “We thought it was an opportunity to take some of the products that we build and donate those resources to people in need that are in a much unfortunate situation, rebuilding their lives as a result of this natural disaster.”
As of Thursday, the hurricane had killed 108 people in North Carolina, while hundreds remained missing in western North Carolina. Thousands were without power on Thursday.
Carmichael said RVMP was motivated to donate to give people access to necessities including water, power and blankets.
Donations include 15 FlexPower 2200i portable generators, 20 gallons of oil, 100 gallons of gasoline, 100 Tyvek suits, 15 blankets and a pallet of water.
