RV Retailer expanded into the Reno, Nevada, area after buying Sprad’s RV. The company acquired Blue Dog RV near Las Vegas in late July this year, its first dealership in the state.
The second Nevada acquisition gives RV Retailer dealerships on opposing sides of Nevada. The company now operates 76 stores in 25 states.
RV Retailer President and CEO Jon Ferrando said the acquisition gives his company further presence in the western U.S. in some of the fastest-growing markets in the state — together, Reno and Las Vegas account for 95% of the Nevada RV market.
“The Reno market has strong RV demographics with incredible parks and nearly 3,000 registrations,” Ferrando said, “which is four times larger than the U.S. average RVs per capita.”
Ferrando thanked Patrick West, Sprad’s RV founder, for selling his Reno dealership to RV Retailer. Earlier this year, Lazydays RV announced it was buying Sprad’s RV. However, the purchase did not close. RV Retailer was able to work later with the Sprad’s RV team to begin a new acquisition deal.
Ferrando said Mark Magnacca, Sprad’s general manager, will continue to manage the Reno business. The dealership will become part of the Western Region, managed by Jim Humble at RV Retailer.
“The Sprad’s team is great,” Ferrando said. “We welcome all of the dedicated Sprad’s RV associates into the RV Retailer family of stores.”
Sprad’s RV sales and service center is located west of Interstate 580 in South Reno.
Future acquisitions could be in the works before the end of the year, Ferrando said.
“Opportunities abound. I continue to see those from now until the end of the year,” he said. “Many dealerships are looking for a partner that can close quickly and this year and, fortunately, we have been able to really meet the needs of owners wanting to transition their business.”
