Keller Marine & RV hosted a technician training program last month, with Dometic, Lippert and Thetford/Norcold each leading different sessions.
The program was held at Keller Marine & RV’s facility in Port Trevorton, Pennsylvania, from Jan. 14-30. The training classes covered knowledge and skills to maintain, repair and troubleshoot various RV systems.
Keller Sales Agent Nick Aucker said, “The training overall was very positive. It is a slow time of year in the RV repair industry, so it is a great time for the techs to take advantage and grow their knowledge.”
Dometic led classes on air conditioners, refrigerators, water heaters and furnaces. The eight-hour sessions were held Jan. 14-17.
Lippert hosted training classes on Schwintek slide-outs, SlimRack slide-outs, motorized hydraulic leveling, level-up towable hydraulic leveling and Furrion air conditioners. The eight-hour classes were held Jan. 28-30.
Thetford/Norcold led a four-hour RVIA-certified class on refrigeration on Monday Jan. 27. Aucker said the Norcold class held the most interest and was the first class to fill up.
Aucker said each session’s goal was to equip RV professionals with knowledge to handle mechanical, electrical, plumbing and appliance-related RV issues.
Keller Director of Marketing Lori Morrow said, “There are constantly new products at the OEM level, and so the techs need constant training. January/February is a good time for that training.”
Keller said the training sessions were valuable for RV owners and technicians.
“We try to work with the vendors to keep the information fresh and different,” Aucker said. “For all the techs to take time out of their week and put forth an effort to better their skills, it can only give hope to the future of our industry.”
With a successful turnout this year, Keller said it started planning its next training sessions. The company is considering hosting training sessions in April in Tampa, Florida.
