As thousands of young adults enter the workforce each year, associations across the industry strive to grasp future employees’ attention and draw them into the RV world.
RVDA of Canada has made several implementations over the past year to educate and attract professionals to the industry. The association has recently invested time and money into two new endeavors.
RVDA of Canada, with the support of the Canadian RV Association (CRVA), has allocated up to $7,500 per regional association to use on career fair expenses. Associations are permitted $2,500 per fair and up to three shows per fair. The funds were allocated for the association’s fiscal year beginning Aug. 1.
RVDA of Canada President Eleonore Hamm said organizations can put the amount toward travel or cost expenses. She said the events boost industry job awareness by presenting educational opportunities and career pathways.
Canadian associations that will receive the funding include RVDA of Alberta, Atlantic RVDA, RVDA of British Columbia, RVDA of Manitoba, Ontario RVDA, RVDA of Quebec and RVDA of Saskatchewan.
“We want to make sure that we are assisting the dealers with what they need,” Hamm said. “And helping them find qualified staff, so that they can run their businesses effectively.”
In addition to investing in recruitment, the association also poured time and funding into educational material. RVDA of Canada invested around $100,000 into translating RV Technical Institute (RVTI) manuals from English to French.
According to Hamm, the association began the endeavor a year ago and anticipates having the material complete by year’s end. The organization will work with RVDA of Quebec to make the manuals available to Quebec dealers.
Hamm said she hopes the material will strengthen Quebec’s RV education offerings.
