EXCLUSIVE: RVTI Leader Says Certification Leads to Strong Service Centers

RVTI Executive Director Curt Hemmeler said fixed-operations certification is an avenue to enhance a dealer’s service department.

When sales are lighter, Hemmeler said, “A robust service center allows you to smooth out those rough spots.”

The industry is in the midst of RV Operations Certification Week. The campaign is promoted by the Society of RV Professionals, RV Technical Institute (RVTI) and the Mike Molino RV Learning Center. The initiative encourages professionals to complete certification.

Hemmeler said an efficient service center will promote future sales by achieving customer comfort. Certification is proof of completing training and being competent in RV areas. Having certified technicians at the dealership gains customer trust and entices consumers to return to the dealership.

“There is no better time than now to take advantage and get your service side ramped up,” Hemmeler said, “by getting your folks trained and certified.”

RVTI provides Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 technician training. Courses are provided in-person, online or in hybrid formats.

RVTI will hold a Level 3 electrical specialty training in person from March 12-14 at its Elkhart, Indiana, headquarters. Training will be provided on Lippert and Xantrex products.

As part of RV Operations Certification Week’s calls to action, RVTI and RVDA are incentivizing certification. Individuals who become certified through RVTI this week will receive a free, one-year subscription to RV Executive Today magazine. All fixed-operations employees who gain certification during this week will receive free access to the RV Fixed Operations Today.
