Samlex America debuted a new sizing guide and product bundling options to simplify RV dealer solar power equipment sales.
“We have identified the three most common RV (consumer) lifestyles,” said Christie Kellogg, Samlex America’s marketing manager. “We want to enable dealers to wrap their heads around selling solar.”
Samlex’s solar and power bundles contain everything an RVer will need in one kit, depending on their purpose, Kellogg said. The bundles are sold in 200-watt, 400-watt and 600-watt options.
Bundled components will eventually be sold under three separate SKUs, but Samlex is currently researching container options for each bundle. Products can be sold bundled to customers now, though dealers will need to order the products individually for each bundle.
Kellogg said the 200-watt bundle is perfect for light solar energy users and RVers just beginning to adventure. The bundle includes a solar charging kit, a 5-watt battery maintainer, a 1500-watt pure sine inverter, 30-amp transfer switch, installation kit and remote control.
“They do not venture very far. They are typically weekend, off-grid campers,” she said, describing entry-level users. “Then you have your 400-watt mid-range, where people are going for a bit longer, or they have more people and they need more electricity. Then, there is the 600-watt, where they are wanting all the luxuries while off-grid.”
Kellogg said a detailed sizing guide is available to walk dealers step-by-step through how to sell a solar bundle. The guide gives dealers tools to sell the solar kits and invites them to ask consumers questions to determine which bundle is suitable. Questions include:
- What type of RV do you have?
- How many people will you be camping with?
- What do you plan to power and how long are you going to be away off-grid?
“It is something for them (dealers) to fall back on,” she said.
Samlex has noticed that sales teams and part managers across the country are hesitant to sell solar because the necessary information is not accessible, Kellogg said. Samlex produced the sizing guide as part of the company’s Dealer Success Program to ensure the process would be easy for anyone involved.
The company will have planograms available for 3-foot end caps and 4-foot displays. For dealers with multiple locations where each storefront could be different, a Samlex representative will help create an individually tailored option, she said.
“Our employees will go the extra mile for you,” she said. “Whenever you call here someone picks up the phone. It is something that we live by. We have a two-ring policy, the phone cannot ring more than twice. We also have an answering service and we don’t ever have an automated prompt.”
When the dealer succeeds, Samlex succeeds, Kellogg added.
“We truly care about solving people’s problems,” she said. “Jonathan is our RV expert and he would be happy to talk to you or arrange training.”
