Consumers are a tap away from having RV safety and security features at their fingertips.
Winegard’s Smart RV Ecosystem increased accessibility through its RV Halo app, which connects to all RV Winegard products. Winegard added more features to the ecosystem that raises consumers’ awareness of their RV.
RV Halo now includes a sensor pack with Smart RV System Internet of Things (IoT) Sensors. These sensors measure water levels, temperature and humidity, motion and contact. The sensors will be launched in the first quarter of 2024.
Winegard President and Chief Operating Officer Grant Whipple said RV Halo “continuously evolves and improves.”
The new wireless sensors can be used to monitor entryways such as doors or windows. Whipple said the wireless sensors can last up to seven years on one battery. A contact sensor placed at an entry point will provide consumers an activity alert through the app. The passive infrared motion sensor notifies consumers about movement in the RV.
The water sensor informs consumers about RV water damage. The sensor can monitor areas under sinks, near toilets and around water lines.
Temperature and humidity sensors maintain the RV’s climate. The temperature sensor can alert a consumer if the fridge temperature is too high. The temperature sensor can also monitor the RV temperature. For example, if an RVer’s pet is inside the RV and the temperature gets too high, an alert will be sent.
Whipple said the temperature and humidity sensors can monitor an RV refrigerator. If a refrigerator comes unplugged, the consumer will receive a notification that the refrigerator temperature got too high.
Since the app’s release in August 2023, consumers have downloaded RV Halo over 30,000 times. Additional app features include battery level monitoring, provides the RV’s location for consumers, and creates a geofence around the RV. The geofence is an invisible fence the owner can set around the RV. If the RV moves and enough to break the fence, the owner received a notification.
Whipple said Winegard updates app features monthly and more features are coming soon. A power sensor is in progress. This sensor would alert consumers when the RV lost power.
“We want it to be very easy to use,” Whipple said. “The goal is to make the RV experience a better overall experience.”
