The Family Motor Coach Association has canceled its International Rally and RV Expo. The event was scheduled to take place Aug. 26-29 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

FMCA’s board of directors voted on March 20 to cancel the event the event due to uncertainty about how long COVID-19’s impact on daily life will continue. Last month, the pandemic also prompted FMCA to cancel its International Convention and RV Expo, which had been scheduled for March 26-29 in Tucson, Arizona.

Prior to these two cancellations, FMCA had never canceled a convention after registration started in its 57-year history.

“With so much uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, we decided that moving forward with plans for the August event in Nebraska could place FMCA in another situation where we’d be forced to cancel an event late in the game,” FMCA National President Jon Walker said. “Registration for the Lincoln convention had been open only about a month when we met to discuss, but people weren’t signing up at the usual pace. So, all things considered, the board reluctantly voted to cancel the event.”

FMCA has 10 regions that each host an area rally nearly every year, and several of those rallies have been canceled as well. Numerous FMCA chapters (subgroups within each region) have also canceled rallies, as RVers across North America cope with the spread of the virus and the “stay at home/shelter in place” orders.

FMCA now looks forward to its next international convention, set to take place March 10-13, 2021, at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter in Perry, Georgia. Registration for the event will begin in fall 2020.

“Perry, Georgia, is a fantastic place to have an RV reunion after the current crisis passes,” FMCA CEO Chris Smith said. “The Georgia National Fairgrounds is one of the best facilities we visit, and it has plenty of room for all of the RVers who are going to want to gather for a great big celebration after the unfortunate cancellations of 2020.”

FMCA is also scheduled to host a convention July 7-10, 2021, at Cam-Plex Multi-Event Facilities in Gillette, Wyoming, with registration to begin in winter 2021.
