The price of regular gasoline broke $4 a gallon on average across the U.S. on Sunday for the first time since 2008.
As of Monday, AAA reported national gas prices averaging $4.065 a gallon. Prices are expected to rise further, analysts stated, as oil prices climbed past $130 a barrel over the weekend.
During the first full week of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, average regular gas prices rose nearly 41 cents a gallon, AAA stated. The increase is the second-largest jump in average national prices in a week, GasBuddy reported.
