General RV Center last week celebrated the groundbreaking of its new store in South Weber, Utah, about 30 miles north of Salt Lake City.
The store is General RV’s second in the state and 15th overall.
City and local leaders joined General RV representatives to celebrate the start of construction.
“We came to the valley in 2009 and our business has continued to grow over the years,” General RV President Loren Baidas said during Friday’s groundbreaking ceremony. “We have always talked about what the next step was, and we dreamed of adding a second store to Utah. We were diligent to find a great piece of property and a great city to work with. We are very excited about the expansion here in South Weber, Utah.”
The new store will house a 65,000-square-foot facility. The facility will have 30 service bays, including a body shop, and capacity to display 450 RVs. The South Weber store is projected to bring 110 jobs to the local economy.
The company opened its first Utah store in Draper in 2009.
“We are excited to expand General RV to more Utah communities,” said Robert Jensen, managing partner of General RV’s Draper location. “It feels like coming home. After getting my start in the RV business with my father at Blaine Jensen & Sons RV, I am excited and proud to return to my roots and continue to bring General RV’s family-business values to northern Utah.”
The South Weber store is expected to open in the fall of 2024.
