More than three dozen Rowan County community representatives and General RV Center leaders broke ground Tuesday on the company’s first North Carolina store.
The new dealership will be in Salisbury. The 71,000-square-foot facility will be General RV’s 16th Supercenter nationwide.
The dealership will have over 30 service bays, including a six-bay body shop, with enough space to house 700 RVs on the lot.
In addition, General RV’s store will be the largest North Carolina RV dealership within 400-500 miles.
General RV President Loren Baidas said: “This has been about a five-year project for us to try to find the right location, the right community that would serve as our home base in North Carolina. We could not have asked for a better county or better town to support us. I really want to thank everyone here in the community. I promise, we will not let you down.”
The company said the store opening investment would be about $25 million. The project creates nearly 70 jobs immediately and more than 150 full-time jobs when the store opens in the fall of 2024.
Greg Edds, chairman of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners, said the jobs and investment are exciting for the community.
“When I think of campers and RVs, I just honestly think about memories that are made with families,” Edds said. “General RV is such a big part of that. As good as you are going to be for us, we are going to be great for you.”
