RV travel is often a family affair. RVing family members climb aboard their vehicles with eager anticipation as the adventure begins. Pets pile into the backseat and join the expedition.

Go RVing’s Monthly Trend Report investigated the prevalence of RVers traveling with animals.

According to Go RVing, pets are more comfortable in an environment such as an RV. The coalition described RV travel as flexible and cost-effective for consumers with pets.

The 2024 Kampgrounds of America (KOA) Camping & Outdoor Hospitality Report revealed more than 64% of American RVers travel with dogs. The total is a 24% increase from KOA’s 2012 findings.

The Dyrt’s 2024 Camping Report found that 53.7% of RVers brought their dogs camping and 5.8% brought their cats. The Dyrt found RVers to be 20.8% more likely to bring pets along compared with other forms of camping.

As pet travel gains popularity, campgrounds and RV parks are catering to the trend.
