Go RVing Notes Increase in Female RV Ownership

In the September 2023 Go RVing Monthly Trends Report, Go RVing highlighted the influence women have on RV purchases and outdoors travel.

Go RVing cited a June 2023 USA Today report that said more women are RVing than ever before, driven by the appeal of independent exploration within a growing female support network. The newspaper said influencer Lindsey Kszos and Facebook groups such as the 24,000-member-strong Solo/Women RVers are symbols of the female-led RV ownership surge.

RVIA surveys in 2023 found a 13% increase in female RV ownership from 2021 to 2023 and a 16% increase in women traveling in RVs over that same time.

“Women across generations are embracing journeys that align with personal aspirations,” Go RVing said. “Whether pursuing new skill sets by becoming an RV tech or seeking a life rich in adventure, this presents and opportunity for the RV industry to enhance female representation both among its workforce and enthusiasts.”

To capitalize on the momentum, Go RVing said industry participants should create and share digital content highlighting female RVers and their stories. The content should demonstrate how women are empowered through RVing and how the lifestyle enables their goals—from remote work to bolstering meaningful family connections.

In addition, Go RVing said industry participants should recruit and train more women to expand workforce inclusivity.

Finally, Go RVing referenced a Canvasti report from July about Le Car, a care research platform delivering a hyper-personalized car buying experience. Le Car provides individual consultations with auto experts and an app targeting consumers’ preferences.

“Personalized experiences are expected by more and more consumers,” Go RVing said. “This means tailoring the customer experience to cater to individual needs throughout the entire RV purchase journey, covering digital platforms, pre-shopping, dealership visits and in-store experiences.”
