Go RVing’s Latest Trends Involve Mental Health

Go RVing released its February 2023 Trends report with two areas focused on consumers’ mental health and wellbeing.

The first trend Go RVing cited involves young adults balancing their digital and physical worlds. The organization cited CMGroup.com data finding 45% of teens saying they feel overwhelmed by social media and YouGov data finding 17% of all consumers plan to cancel paid streaming subscriptions in the next six months.

“Younger generations are becoming increasingly conscious of how poor digital habits affect their mental and physical wellbeing,” Go RVing said.

As younger consumers seek to lessen their social/digital time, Go RVing cited CivicScience.com data finding an 11% increase in the number of people who consume less than two hours of social media per week in the past year. The same data found a 10% decrease in the number of people consuming more than two hours a week, among consumers age 18-24, since 2017.

“These members of the so-called ‘phygital’ generation—the ones who effectively balance physical and digital experiences—are leading a change in how we think about and use technology in our day-to-day lives,” Go RVing said. “Go RVing members can appeal to these consumers by positioning RVing as the perfect balance between exciting, physical experiences and technology-driven comfort and connectedness.”

Another trend noted the next generation of mindful media. Go RVing cited Deezer, a European streaming music service launching a Zen app featuring guided yoga and meditation sessions as one example. Another example is an app called Chill Pill, targeting women and non-binary people ages 24 and under. The app enables anonymous consumers to share feelings and experiences in small, voice-only chat groups.

“In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with current economic pressures on the rise, people globally are experiencing unprecedented mental health crises,” Go RVing said. “Go RVing members should consider positioning RVing as an effective way to improve mental wellness by living in the moment and being in touch with nature.”
