 The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued the following recalls:

DAIMLER VANS USA

Incorrectly Connected Wiring May Cause Fire

An electrical surge can increase the fire risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 2

Daimler Vans USA, LLC is recalling certain 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 vehicles. The generator wiring harness may be incorrectly connected to the electric power steering, which can result in an electrical surge.

Dealers will inspect and correct the wiring harness connection, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Aug. 5, 2022.

 

FOREST RIVER

Awning Fabric May Detach Causing Awning to Drop

An awning that drops or extends beyond normal operation can increase the injury risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 19,911

Forest River is recalling certain 2022 Prime Time Avenger, Crusader, Lacrosse, Ozark, Tracer, Sanibel, East to West Della Terra, Silverlake, Forest River Cherokee, Flagstaff, IBEX, RPod, Rockwood, Salem, Sierra, Sandpiper, and Wildwood fifth wheel and travel trailers. The electric retractable awning has a welded seam on the fabric that may separate, potentially allowing the awning to drop beyond normal operation.

Forest River will replace the awnings, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Aug. 17, 2022.

 

Propane Leak Can Cause a Fire

A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the fire risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 172

Forest River is recalling certain 2021-2022 Dynamax Isata Class 3 and Class 5 motorhomes, 2021 Coachmen Sportscoach, 2020 Coachmen Pursuit, and 2017, 2020-2021 Coachmen Freelander motorhomes. The service valves on the LPG tanks may be improperly connected, which can cause a propane leak.

Dealers will inspect and replace the service valves, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Aug. 17, 2022.

 

Trailer Brakes May Not Activate

Trailer brakes that fail to activate can increase the crash risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 202

Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2022 Coachmen Catalina travel trailers. The breakaway switch may be incorrectly wired to the battery disconnect, which can prevent the trailer brakes from activating as intended.

Dealers will inspect and re-wire the breakaway switch, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Aug. 15, 2022.

 

Brake/Tail Lights May Not Illuminate

Brake or tail lights that fail to illuminate can reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the crash risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 43

Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2022 Coachmen Apex travel trailers. The taillights may have been incorrectly wired to an “ON/OFF” switch, which can cause the brake or tail lights to not illuminate when the switch is in the “off” position.

Dealers will rewire the taillights, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Aug. 17, 2022.
