Elkhart, Indiana-based Heng’s Industries USA has acquired the parts division of Leisure Times Sales and Marketing.
According to Robert Kauffman, president and CEO of Heng’s Industries, the purchase moves the company forward in its goal to “own the rooftop.”
“They complement what we do,” Kauffman said. “At Heng’s, we have roof vents, roof coatings, silicones, putty tape, plumbing caps, skylights—products that are designed for the top of the roof. So we want to own that segment.”
The products, which will be rebranded under the Heng’s name, also include a line of “green” jack pads made of recycled tires as well as a lineup of small accessories. However, it was Leisure Times’ rooftop products that spurred the acquisition.
“We were the first company to invent the vent pillow, or vent insulator, which mounts inside the vent and keeps light out,” Leisure Times President Mike Willhoff said. “The acquisition also includes StickNBond, which is perhaps the premium line of roof repair tapes. So a lot of these products—roof repair tapes, air conditioning seals, things like that—are rooftop products. It really helps Heng’s build that product mix, to create a full line and own that category.”
With the sale, Huntington Beach, California-based Leisure Times Sales and Marketing will now be solely a manufacturer’s rep firm.
“I wanted to dedicate my time more to being a manufacturer’s rep, get back into the field and do more selling and be more efficient for the companies I represent,” Willhoff said. “I will still be the sales rep for Leisure Time products through Heng’s as an independent rep—and I’ll also help in the transition to Heng’s to make sure the product buying goes smoothly, is shipped to their warehouse and is added to their product mix.”
Kauffman has been with Heng’s Industries since it was founded in 2009 and was named president and CEO in 2012. The company currently operates out of a two-building campus in Elkhart, Indiana, with a combined 200,000 square feet.
