A new survey about 2020 holiday travel plans found that Americans who are traveling for Thanksgiving or December holidays are considering going by RV.
The Holiday Travel Intentions 2020 Survey was conducted by Urgently, a mobility and roadside assistance platform.
More than half of respondents traveling for Thanksgiving will use their own cars (54.8 percent), followed by renting a car (5.9 percent) and using an RV (3 percent).
Using an RV topped flying (2.7 percent), ride hailing services (1.3 percent) and railways (1.2 percent).
In December the order stayed the same at the top, although more chose their own car (57.5 percent) and renting a vehicle (6.2 percent). As the weather turns colder, 3.7 percent said they planned to fly, 2.3 percent would use a ride hailing service and 1.9 percent would use an RV.
“Like most everything in 2020, we expect holiday travel to be different compared with years past,” Urgently co-founder and CEO Chris Spanos stated. “As a majority of holiday travelers will be on the roads, Urgently will be tracking traffic volumes and mobility data throughout the holiday season to ensure our network is prepared to help stranded motorists get to their celebrations as quickly, painlessly and safely as possible.”
Overall, 47 percent of Americans have changed Thanksgiving travel plans, and 44 percent have changed December travel plans. More than 80 percent will travel 100 miles or less at Thanksgiving, and 77 percent will do so in December.
