Icon Technologies is continuing to sponsor professional race car driver Amber Balcaen for the upcoming season.
Balcaen will race full time in NASCAR’s national ARCA Menards series. Balcean will drive for Rette Jones Racing, with Icon returning as primary sponsor for all 20 races throughout the U.S. Balcaen’s No. 30 car will sport the Icon logo and sunbursts.
John Loewen, Icon CEO, said the company is excited to return as Balcaen’s primary sponsor to NASCAR.
“I resonate with Amber’s underdog story,” Loewen said. “She has a really bright future as a professional race car driver and is a great brand ambassador for Icon.”
Balcaen is a third-generation race car driver, having earned in 2016 the title of first Canadian female to win a NASCAR sanctioned race in the U.S. Balcaen competed in Bill McAnally’s Drivers Academy, a NASCAR development program, in addition to competing in three ARCA West Races during 2021. Balcaen said she feels she had the seat time needed for the ARCA national series.
“I learned a ton in the BMR Drivers Academy,” Balcaen said, “and I am excited to build on the skills I developed last season.”
Balcaen will be competing to become the first female to win a national ARCA Menards series race.
“Racing in NASCAR’s national ARCA Menards series has always been my dream,” Balcaen said. “To race at legendary tracks like Daytona and Talladega is something I have visualized for years. I have dedicated the last eight years, working hard to make this dream become reality and I cannot be more excited to live it.”
Balcaen’s first race of the year will be at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 19. The race airs on Fox at 1:30 p.m. EST. The full 2022 schedule can be found at icondirect.com/racing.
