Icon Technologies, manufacturer and marketer of plastic RV components, in collaboration with the city of Winkler, said a north-south street to the east of the Icon manufacturing facility has been named Icon Drive.
Mayor Martin Harder met with management involved in the collaboration, along with brand spokesperson and professional race car driver Amber Balcaen.
“The city of Winkler is certainly pleased to be able to name Icon Drive as a main route to get to Icon Direct,” Harder said. “It is much easier to make these adjustments and name streets for major industries before the streets all get developed and address changes have to take place, so we’re excited to be on the ground floor with Icon on this renaming.”
The company has been local to Winkler 25 years, moving to its current location in 2018. Retail shipments are trucked out of the manufacturing facility daily.
Icon CEO John Loewen said, “I am extremely pleased that the City Council chose to name this street after our company. This will be especially beneficial once Icon Drive connects to Highway 14.”
