The Indiana Manufacturers Association (IMA) began accepting nominations for its Manufacturing Excellence Awards today, May 15. This year’s program includes a special award for manufacturers who’ve responded to the call during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The annual Manufacturing Excellence Awards highlight Indiana companies and individuals for the outstanding work they do, exceptional contributions made to the industry, and their impact on the future of manufacturing in Indiana. Nominees and winners will be recognized on October 28, 2020, at the IMA’s Manufacturers Hall of Fame Luncheon.
The awards are open to all manufacturers in Indiana. Anyone may nominate an individual/company active in Indiana’s manufacturing industry, and self-nominations are encouraged. Nominations close August 15th.

Nominations for the awards are now open for the following categories:
Large-Tier Indiana Manufacturer of the Year (Individual or Company) Award. This category is for a large-tier Indiana manufacturer or individual and serves to focus public attention on the important, positive, and tangible contributions they make to their employees, customers and communities. Large Tier is classified as encompassing manufacturing leaders of companies with more than 250 employees.
Medium-Tier Indiana Manufacturer of the Year (Individual or Company) Award. This category is for a medium-tier Indiana manufacturer or individual and serves to focus public attention on the important, positive, and tangible contributions they make to their employees, customers and communities. Medium Tier is classified as encompassing manufacturing leaders of companies with 100-250 employees.
Small-Tier Indiana Manufacturer of the Year (Individual or Company) Award. This category is for a small-tier Indiana manufacturer or individual and serves to focus public attention on the important, positive, and tangible contributions they make to their employees, customers and communities. Small Tier is classified as encompassing manufacturing leaders of companies with less than 100 employees.
SPECIAL 2020 AWARD – COVID-19 Response Champion. The COVID-19 Response Champion Award. This award recognizes a manufacturer who responded to the call to assist with COVID-19 related supplies, services, or other in-demand information/equipment brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. This award recognizes outstanding leadership, innovation and/or community service efforts directly related to COVID-19.
Manufacturing Talent Champion (Individual or Company) Award. Recognizes an individual who works to bring focus to the critical need of attracting Indiana’s next generation workforce to manufacturing’s variety of career options.
Emerging Leader, (Individual) Award. This award recognizes and honors a new manufacturing leader who has been involved in the industry for less than 10 years. The Emerging Leader award is bestowed upon someone for exceptional contributions to the industry and the potential for future accomplishments within Indiana manufacturing. The award also signifies distinguished service to the IMA and other professional organizations, as well as the pursuit of continued professional development and participation in community and civic affairs.
Community Impact (Company) Award. The Community Impact award recognizes a manufacturing company that has shown exemplary leadership in serving its community or state, and is an example of the involved and giving nature of manufacturers. The winning application will have demonstrated a strong commitment to community service, as reflected in their company policy, resources, and employee participation, as well a strong relationship with the IMA, and provide concrete results produced by these efforts.
Innovation Excellence (Company) Award. The Innovation Excellence award recognizes a company that has introduced noteworthy innovations to advance the industry. This award showcases a company that not only has brought an innovative concept to market, but has developed and maintained a culture focused on engaging the workforce to bring new ideas to life.
Lifetime Achievement (Individual) Award. This award honors an individual who has excelled in the manufacturing industry. This individual has worked in the manufacturing industry for the majority of their career and has made significant contributions to his/her company, industry, community, the IMA, and other professional organizations.
