Indiana manufacturers are working with a state federation to fill critical workforce needs.
The four chapters of the Indiana Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (INFAME), which includes the northeast Indiana (NEI FAME) chapter where RV manufacturers are based, are working with partners at Ivy Tech and Vincennes University on workforce training.
“The IMA (Indiana Manufacturers Association) spent many months evaluating workforce training programs for manufacturing, and FAME is the gold standard,” President and CEO Brian Burton said. “With FAME growing in Indiana, we hope those students that apply now and start their education next year will be the leaders of Indiana manufacturing for years to come.”
FAME companies sponsor students in the Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program. AMT is a two-year, five-semester program that starts in the fall of 2021.
Students who participate in the program obtain 60 credit hours, 1,800 hours of paid, on-the-job training, with a focus on developing soft skills critical to success.
The program concludes with an associate degree and the potential to work with a sponsoring employer or continue their education.
