Jayco Enlisting Current Owners to Test Connected System

Jayco will ask current Jay Flight owners to volunteer to participate in a pilot program regarding Thor Industries’ connected vehicle system.

The system is GPS-based and powered by Thor Industries. The companies said the system will provide consumers with personalized travel recommendations, trip inspiration and other how-to information based on the RV’s model.

Jayco President and CEO Ken Walters said: “Jayco owners are always ready to embrace new ways to come together and reconnect in the outdoors. Those who participate in this pilot will get an early glimpse of an exciting technology and help ensure our future connected vehicle strategy lives up to its promise and delivers a best-in-class user experience for Jayco RV owners.”

The connected system will link consumers’ RVs with Thor Industries’ secure connected vehicle system, Jayco said. Using location information from the GPS, Jayco will send consumers custom communications, including campground recommendations and destinations, money-saving offers and tips for maintaining and using their RV.

McKay Featherstone, Thor Industries senior vice president of global innovation, said the company was extremely excited about the pilot program.

“The results will provide invaluable insights,” Featherstone said, “as Jayco and the Thor family of companies shape and refine connected vehicle systems to enhance the RV experience and create a point of differentiation for all vehicles and owners across all of our operating companies.”

Jayco is recruiting consumers who own Jay Flights in model years 2019-2024 for the pilot program. Jayco said participants must use their Jay Flight for a minimum number of days during the program, keep the pilot hardware in their RV and respond to periodic surveys to improve the experience for future consumers.
