Jayco’s newest Type B motorhome will be the company’s first on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×4 platform.
The 4×4 Terrain combines the four-wheel-drive Sprinter chassis with Jayco’s JRide ride and handling package. The handling package includes Koni shocks and a heavy-duty rear stabilizer bar.
The off-grid power system includes a 48-volt, 210-amp-hour smart lithium battery providing 10,200 watts of power. Also included are a 3,500-watt inverter, a dedicated second 48-volt alternator linked to the lithium battery and 200 watts of roof-mounted solar panels.
“We feel our team really knocked it out of the park on this one,” said Ryan Eash, Jayco Motorized Group director of product development.
The interior includes Tecnoform European-style cabinetry. A hydronic heating system includes an LED touchscreen control and the motorhome is controlled by a Jaycommand multiplex system powered by Firefly.
“Our partnership with Tecnoform allowed us to create a van with a unique look not found anywhere else,” Eash said. “The van also comes equipped with a lithium package that gives it true ‘off-the-grid’ capabilities which in this space felt was a must-have.”
The kitchen includes a portable induction cooktop and a 3-cubic-foot DC refrigerator.
Other Terrain highlights include a 48-volt Coleman-Mach 10 air conditioner, Carefree’s armless powered awning with an LED light strip and wind sensor and a double roof rack with moveable ladder.
Jayco Terrain’s MSRP starts at $192,000 and is offered in two optional paint schemes: Aztec partial paint (Silver van only) and Forest Glade partial paint (Sandstone van only).
