KiloVault, a Massachusetts-based renewable energy supplier, released Jan. 27 the company’s new heavy-duty lithium batteries.
The new 1,200 Watt-hour-capacity (Wh) batteries complement KiloVault’s existing 1,800 Wh and 3,600 Wh models. The new offerings have smaller capacity and reduced weight, which the company says makes them suitable in RV and marine use.
The 1200 HLX and 1200 CHLX can be used in 12-volt, 24-volt or 48-volt configurations. The batteries feature Bluetooth communication. The company’s HLX iT app helps monitor the products’ health and performance via smartphone.
“This flexibility – combined with a 5,000-cycle lifespan at 80 percent depth of discharge – offers customers exceptional value for their energy storage needs,” KiloVault stated.
The company noted its HLX and CHLX battery offerings do not require active cooling. KiloVault stated the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology it uses is not subject to thermal runaway issues other lithium technologies may experience,.
The batteries do not require regular watering, desulphating or equalizing, the company state.
“HLXs and CHLXs are incredibly safe and low-maintenance batteries,,” KiloVault stated, “and outperform comparable lead-acid batteries by storing and discharging energy more efficiently to yield 12 percent more useable stored energy.”
The 1200 CHLX features the same internal heating technology as the company’s other CHLX offerings, the company stated, allowing it to continue charging at subzero temperatures. If the temperature dips below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the battery’s charging current is rerouted through a heating film that allows it to maintain a temperature above freezing.
