KZ Recreational Vehicles, a Thor Industries subsidiary, unveiled its new solar package that enables RVers to travel off-grid and keep household conveniences.
The eight-panel solar package sets a new boondocking standard, the company said and is available for KZ’s Durango, Durango Gold, Venom and Venom V-Series luxury and toy hauler lines.
The solar package features are:
- Eight 220-watt solar panels, equaling 1,760 watts of solar power
- A 5,000-watt, 24-volt Victron inverter/charger able to power everything in a fifth wheel
- One 15,000 BTU A/C with soft start
- A 100-amp Victron MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) solar charge controller
- Two 24-volt, 200-amp-hour lithium batteries, equal to eight 12-volt, 100-amp-hour lithium batteries
The package includes a 25-year warranty on the solar panels, a 10-year warranty on the lithium batteries and a five-year warranty on all Victron Energy components.
“KZ’s industry-leading solar package is in a league of its own,” KZ RV General Manager Brent Froman said, “for the first-time allowing travelers to reach even more remote locations without sacrificing the comforts of home.”
According to the company, the system powers all outlets and appliances and runs one 15,000 BTU A/C for 10 hours through the night. With full exposure to the sun, the system can recharge batteries in six to eight hours. The system can be monitored through the RV’s touchscreen or the system’s application.
