KZ Recreational Vehicles supported a volunteer group assisting with Hurricane Helene relief efforts in North Carolina. The manufacturer provided RVs for volunteers traveling to the region.
On Sept. 27, the storm wreaked havoc throughout Southeastern states. Infrastructure was heavily damaged in North Carolina’s western region.
To aid Samaritan’s Purse International Relief (PIR), Indiana-based Blue River Covenant Brethren Church (CBC) organized a volunteer trip to North Carolina.
KZ division Venture RV General Manager Dave Boggs and Quality Control Manager Paul Gingerich discussed the relief effort’s low funds and temporary housing. Boggs suggested donating two KZ towables.
KZ Vice President of Sales and Marketing Marlene Snyder and Director of Operations Lynn Stutzman approved loaning two travel trailers to support the volunteers in North Carolina. Gingerich oversaw logistics and communications, along with KZ employee David Miller and 10 volunteers.
Gingerich said the team faced several challenges.
“However, each obstacle was overcome,” he said, “thanks to generous donations, including vehicles to tow the campers and financial contributions for food and travel.”
To accommodate the volunteers, a nearby Kampgrounds of America extended its seasonal closing date to Nov. 2. The group spent three days clearing trees and removing dirt and mud from homes.
Dave Kreider, Blue River CBC trip coordinator, said he was thankful to KZ and Venture for providing trailers.
“Thanks to their kindness,” he said, “we were able to stay on-site and continue our important work with Samaritan’s Purse, assisting those impacted by Hurricane Helene.”
Anybody who wants to contribute to relief efforts in North Carolina can do so through Samaritan’s Purse or the Red Cross.
