Leisureland RV Center, in partnership with Musick Auction, held its “The Gift of Adventure” charity auction event benefiting three Idaho charities.
The auction ran from Sept. 22 through Oct. 13. Leisureland RV Center dealer principal John DeHoff said the holiday season is the best time to promote giving to others.
“We had an opportunity to partner with Musick Auction and saw this as a great opportunity to have this charity event, this dream, come to fruition,” he said.
DeHoff said the plan to hold an event started after cancer survivor Mike McHale came to his dealership wanting to donate a motorhome wasting away in storage. McHale had been traveling to Mexico for cancer treatment and planned to leave the U.S. permanently the next day.
“It turned out that the Fleetwood Flair was a true barn find … a time capsule underneath all the dust,” DeHoff said. “Since receiving the motorhome it has been a plan of mine to offer it for a charity.”
The dealership wanted the community to be involved in the auction. DeHoff said the dealership conducted a poll on its social media channels and asked the community to vote on which charity should receive the auction funds.
On Nov. 4, DeHoff and his wife and Carina visited the Idaho Foodbank, Lake Lowell Animal Rescue and Vietnam veteran Bill Fifer to present checks for $2,500.
