According to Lippert Components, Inc. (Lippert), a record-breaking 1,500 team members participated in the company’s National Volunteer Week April 18-20 at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Elkhart, Indiana.
The volunteers boxed 108,000 essential food items, school supplies and toiletries. The boxes were distributed to local schools and nonprofits. This year’s beneficiaries included the Boys & Girls Club of Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties, La Casa de Amistad, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana and seven schools within Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties.
From trail clean-ups and park beautification efforts in the United States to mentoring and educating women in Tunisia, more than 3,000 Lippert team members around the world donated their time, talents and treasures to give back to their local communities.
“’Overwhelming gratitude’ are the words that flood my head when I think about the hearts of those who showed up in a big way again this year to serve our Lippert communities during Volunteer Week 2023,” said Michilah Grimes, Lippert director of corporate and community impact. “Together, Lippert team members have put over $20 million worth of volunteer hours back into communities across the globe, and it is awe-inspiring.”
Participating in Volunteer Week is a key component of Lippert’s overarching philanthropic initiative to use business as a force for good. Lippert members were encouraged to share “the why” behind their decision to volunteer.
Answers ranged from ‘to make the world a better place for my children’ to ‘I was once the recipient of similar acts of kindness, and it changed my life.’
“Our team members are a force for good in this world,” Grimes said. “and seeing the lasting impact is truly why I show up every day.”
