Responding to the global spread of coronavirus and COVID-19, Cummins joined a growing list of companies imposing travel restrictions. Although the company’s products will be on display at this week’s ConExpo construction show in Las Vegas, employees were asked not to attend.
When Cummins first implemented restrictions, it was aimed at certain regions in China. The company operates 10 facilities in Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the virus outbreak.
The list of travel restrictions later grew to include Italy and South Korea. With the coronavirus now in more than 95 countries, Cummins has called for employees to cease all commercial domestic and international air travel through the end of March.
Cummins has not yet asked its U.S. workforce to work from home, but is considering additional precautionary measures. It is calling for employees to remain at home if they become ill. The company has also stepped up the frequency of office cleanings and it providing extra disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer.
