The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) appointed Whitney Potter Schwartz as senior vice president of communications and operations.
Potter Schwartz will oversee ORR strategy, events, branding and communication. She will support ORR development and operation goals through partnerships and nationally elevating the organization’s policy objectives. She will create an outdoor recreation economy sustainability/climate strategy.
ORR President Jessica Wahl-Turner said, “With her 20 years of experience in strategic communications in both the political and nonprofit settings, she brings battle-tested expertise, relationships and management skills.”
Potter Schwartz held strategic communications roles for the past decade. She served as deputy chief of staff and communications director for U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.). She was the New Mexico American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) communications director and the Institute for Women’s Policy Research communications and publications associate.
Wahl-Turner said, “Her passion for compelling storytelling and branding, forging new partnerships, innovative problem solving, and not only building a team but being a team player, make her an invaluable asset to the organization.”
Potter Schwartz said ORR aligns with her passions and she looks forward to contributing to the association’s mission.
