The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) is teaming up with graduate students to enhance sustainability. The association is partnering with University of Colorado Boulder’s Masters of the Environment (MENV) Program students.
The program unites students and organizations to address outdoor recreation issues.
ORR Senior Vice President Whitney Potter Schwartz said, “The outdoor recreation industry has a history of innovation and for being stewards of our land and water to create a healthier future for the next generation.”
According to Potter Schwartz, the partnership will develop a sustainability structure to serve the recreation industry.
The project is supported by Yamaha.
Natalie Ooi is a University of Colorado Boulder associate teaching professor and a MENV Program sustainability in the outdoor industry specialization lead. Ooi said the partnership was a fantastic opportunity for grad students to shape sustainability conversations at an industry level.
Ooi said, “(They will) provide guidance to outdoor recreation organizations of all sizes that are looking to have a positive impact on the environment.”
Participating students include Sam Bruckner, Olivia Hubbard, Gwynnie LaMastra and Hannah Reed.
