The Overland Expo Foundation is a group of enthusiasts passionate about overland travel and our public lands. Its mission is to help fund organizations and individuals who help protect and advance the overland community.
The foundation is currently seeking grantees. It wishes to support organizations and people that:
• Advance the protection of public lands.
• Enhance the ability/freedom to explore nature by overland vehicle or adventure motorcycle.
• Provide education fostering preparedness, understanding and a more conscientious community.
• Complete trail restoration and cleanup programs.
• Fund travelers who make a difference in our communities.
2020 Application Process
Overland Expo Foundation is accepting applications from 501(c)(3) organizations or individuals with an upcoming charitable project in line with its mission statement. Applicants must request funding for a specific project or goal. Applications open for 2020 funding between Feb. 14, 2020 and Aug. 1, 2020. Once all applications are received, the foundation board of directors will choose up to five applicants to advance to the finals round. Status will be emailed to applicants by Sept. 1, 2020.
The foundation will post stories from the five applicants to its website. Voting will be done from the foundation’s fan base online, at events and via social media. On Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, the three applicants with the most fan votes will receive project funding.
Causes the foundation will consider:
• Protecting access to public lands.
• Defending use of overland vehicles and adventure motorcycles.
• Organizing community-wide trail restoration and cleanup.
• Preserving our public lands.
• Encouraging people to explore and give back throughout their overland journeys.
• Building international cooperation or greater understanding of other cultures.
• Advancing sustainable energy and transportation technologies (e.g., solar and electrified powertrains).
