Biography
“I was never good at math, and my math teacher thinks it is hilarious I am a machinist now,” said Randell Woods, NSA RV Products’ operations manager. Though Woods formally worked at NSA RV as CNC supervisor, the Chanute, Kansas, resident was promoted in early 2021.
“I have always been a hands-on learner,” Woods said. After attending some classes at Allen Community College, he went into 15 years of manual and CNC machine experience, most of which he figured out himself along the way.
“It’s amazing that you can cut steel like butter,” Woods said. Though, he “cut a lot of air” to get to that point, setting up CNC machines and using them on nothing while learning how to use them.
Woods is most proud of the ReadyBrute Elite Tow Bar. His boss, NSA RV President Tod Westervelt, came up with the idea, wanting to expand on his old tow bar design to make it better and use fewer parts. Woods constructed the first ReadyBrute Elite Tow Bar around 2017.
