President Joe Biden designated Laura Daniel-Davis as acting deputy secretary of the Department of the Interior. Daniel-Davis replaces Tommy Beaudreau, who resigned Oct. 31.
Daniel-Davis brings over 30 decades of experience to the position. She served the Interior Department for over 14 years in various administrations.
Interior Secretary Deb Haaland said, “Laura has a depth of experience that will be invaluable in our work to build a clean energy future, honor our commitments to Indigenous communities, and leave our air, water and public lands better for future generations.”
Daniel-Davis was the associate director of congressional and legislative affairs during the Clinton-Gore administration. Daniel-Davis was chief of staff to multiple interior secretaries and was associate deputy secretary under the Obama-Biden administration. She worked on issues such as the first offshore wind project and the Klamath River Basin restoration.
Daniel-Davis served as deputy chief of staff to former Colorado Rep. Mark Udall. Daniel-Davis was the principal deputy assistant secretary for land and minerals management at the Interior Department before her appointment to acting deputy secretary.
