The Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County is offering a ‘Principles of Lean” workshop for manufacturers who wish to transition to a lean manufacturing operation. Lean programs eliminate waste while increasing productivity, helping businesses gain a competitive edge.
Topics to be discussed include the principles of lean manufacturing and how to apply them, standardized work, visual signals, batch-size reduction, pull systems and more. Attendees will be able to experience firsthand how lean improves quality, reduces cycle time, improves delivery performance, reduces work in process and enables companies to be profitable.
The workshop will also discuss lean culture. An organization’s culture involves roles, beliefs, assumptions and values that influence what gets done and how things get done. Successfully implementing lean manufacturing practices includes developing a culture of engaged employees and continuous improvement. The workshop will also explore organizational culture and how developing a lean culture plays a key role in overall improvements as well as challenges and barriers to adopting such cultural changes.
The workshop will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County. The program is designed for manufacturing personnel including technicians, engineers and managers. The cost of the workshop is $295.
