The Robert Weed Corp., a supplier of wood products, moldings and laminated products for the RV, marine and walk-in truck industries, has implemented a 3D vision system for identifying material and product defects.
“This new system will create efficiencies for Robert Weed Corp.,” the company stated, “and also provide consistent quality product for our customers.
The system has enough promise to earn the company a statewide $120,00 Manufacturing Readiness Grant. The matching grant program is jointly administered by Conexus, an organization dedicated to developing the advanced manufacturing and logistics organization in Indiana, and the Indiana Economic Development Corp. (IEDC).
The University of Notre Dame’s iNDustry Labs, which forges innovative partnerships with the region’s manufacturers, and enFocus, Inc., a leading resource for talent attraction, sought to bring the grant awards to the South Bend-Elkhart region of Indiana.
The program aims to stimulate private sector investments that will modernize Indiana’s manufacturing sector, positioning Hoosier operations, and the industry overall, for future growth and prosperity.
iNDustry Labs and enFocus follow a strategic identification of prospective grant opportunities from the region’s manufacturers, the companies stated, accompanied by careful development and stewardship of the applications to Conexus to produce successful applications. The process results in matching grants for technology-based capital investments to fuel partner companies’ innovation efforts.
