The National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) appointed Susan Motley as its senior director of education and events, in addition to the ARVC Foundation executive director.
Motley will join the team in mid-May. She most recently served as deputy director of the Association for the Advancement of Physician and Provider Recruitment, where she was responsible for education alignment across the association’s platforms in Richmond, Virginia.
“Susan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both education and events that will continue to advance ARVC’s engaging educational opportunities, and create new ones, for our members to take advantage of year-round,” ARVC President and CEO Paul Bambei said. “Our members are telling us they are ready for convenient online education options, as well as new in-person experiences, and we believe Susan is the right person to make this happen.”
As an avid RVer, ARVC stated Motley will bring a camping passion with her to the new role. The association noted she said it was “fate” to find ARVC at this time. It happened on a recent RV trip to the Georgia coast to celebrate Christmas, when she decided she wanted to combine her love of RVing with her roots in hospitality.
“My husband and I were taking a much-needed break, enjoying the warmer weather, gorgeous sunsets and inspiring sunrises,” Motley said. “I also noticed that all around me families were using the opportunity that outdoor hospitality provided to visit with and connect to family members to celebrate the season. It hit me that I wanted to be part of making these important memories happen.”
Motley started her career in hotel sales and marketing with brands such as Sheraton, Marriott and Omni.
“Susan is the full package, and her innovative ideas will advance ARVC’s education and events, as well as the efforts of ARVC Foundation, into the future,” Bambei said. “She will hit the ground running as we continue to advance ARVC’s on-demand certifications, create new learning opportunities for members through ARVC University, and return in person for memorable education and networking opportunities at the Outdoor Hospitality Conference and Expo in Raleigh, North Carolina, this November.”
