RV RoadSigns Forecast RV Shipment Estimates Drop

RVIA’s Fall 2024 RV RoadSigns forecast projected lower RV wholesale shipments compared with its Summer 2024 report. The report is a quarterly forecast prepared by ITR Economics.

RV shipments are now expected to reach a range of 311,600 to 336,600 and a median of 324,100 by year’s end. The summer forecast projected RV shipment totals to reach between 329,900 to 359,100 with a median of 344,000.

RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby said, “Persistent high interest rates have been a headwind for the RV market, but we are optimistic that shipments will remain steady over the coming months before gaining more traction next year.”

The Fall report forecast 2025 to yield a mid-300,000 shipment range. For 2025, the report forecast a range increasing to 329,900 to 363,300 shipments with a 346,100 median.

The latest forecast continues readjustments from earlier projections. Before the year began, the Winter 2023 forecast called for a median of 350,100 wholesale shipments. The next report, from Spring 2024, again called for a median total of 350,100 wholesale shipments.

The current median forecast of 324,100 is a 7.4% decline from the winter and spring totals. If the projection reaches the low range of 311,600, wholesale RV shipments would fall below last year’s 313,174 level to the lowest mark since 2012. In 2012, the industry totaled 285,900 wholesale RV shipments.

“There continues to be strong consumer interest in RV travel and camping,” Kirby said, “and as interest rates ease, the RV industry is well-positioned to gain ground.”
