During the transition from the RVDA/RVIA tech certification program to the RV Technical Institute (RVTI) training program, technicians due for re-certification between Jan. 1, 2020 and June 29, 2020 will have their re-certification deadline extended to June 30, 2020.
Revised Classifications
Valid certifications as of Dec. 31, 2019 under the RVDA/RVIA certification program automatically transfer into the RVTI program. Registered Technicians were transferred to Level 1 Certified Technicians and do not need to re-certify. The Level 1 Certification is good for life and only requires technicians check-in on an annual basis.
Certified Technicians were transferred to Level 2 Certified Technicians and will need 24 hours of approved continuing education over the past five years to re-certify. Many Level 2 Certified Technicians may use training from the past five years to also qualify them for one or more Level 3 Specialist Certifications. Certified technicians with proof of required supplier training completed within the past five years will be granted the corresponding RV Technical Institute Level 3 specialty and re-designated as a Level 3 Certified Technician and/or a Level 4 Master Certified Technician, as appropriate.
Master Certified Technicians were transferred to Level 4 Master Certified Technicians and will need 24 hours of approved continuing education over the past five years to re-certify.
The RVTI website, where technicians will login and record their training and attach their certificates, is expected to launch in March 2020. During the program’s transition, RVDA and RVTI staffs will work together to transfer the certified technician data and create new records and credentials in the new website portal.
Technicians can expect to receive an email once their account has been created and credentials are transferred. Email addresses in the new system need to be unique to each technician, if there is no email or no unique email on file, a letter will be mailed.
