RVDA of Canada Urges Dealers to Engage on Tariffs

As tariffs and counter tariffs are implemented between Canada and the U.S., RVDA of Canada is urging Canadian dealers to submit consultation comments immediately through the official consultation form.

The association said the form is to petition for removing RV products from Phase 2 tariffs, set to secure specific exemptions for dealers and demonstrate the RV industry’s economic impact.

Canada’s phase 2 tariffs, set to begin April 2, will specifically target travel trailer, fifth wheels, new and used gas motorhomes and diesel motorhomes.

On the official consultation form, RVDA of Canada recommends dealers explain how a 25% to 30% cost increase would affect their business viability. Dealers should explain the impossibility of sourcing equivalent Canadian products; describe how these tariffs make RVs cost-prohibitive for Canadian families; document unfulfilled contracts signed before tariff announcements; and express how implementation timing creates inventory and pricing challenges.

RVDA of Canada also advises businesses prepare their remission request documentation to be submission-ready when Phase 2 is implemented.

RVDA of Canada said those who already submitted a remission request should consider resubmitting when Phase 2 is implemented.
