Pete Smith, who has helped individuals, teams, and organizations improve their leadership and personal growth for more than 25 years, will address five challenges every manager will encounter, and discuss how to have strategic conversations during the “Conversations That Matter” workshop at the 2022 RV Dealers Convention/Expo.
The convention/expo will take place Nov. 7-11, 2022, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Smith’s workshop will show why these conversations are so effective, RVDA said, and teach how you need to phrase your conversations to maximize your results.
The workshop will be part of the dealer/GM track and will be presented from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Topics for the course include:
- Build trust, accountability, and responsibility among team members
- Managing micro-managers
- Create a framework for addressing conflict among team members and stop spending your time dealing with drama
- Recognize your people in a way that they’ll remember for years
In addition, Smith will present “Rockstar Manager: From Valued Colleague to Significant Leader,” a half-day leadership development course. The class begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, and is presented by the RVDA Leadership Roundtable, formerly known as the Young RV Executives group.
To maximize student participation and networking, the course is limited to 50 dealer attendees. Registration for the course is $119.
During the discussion, Smith will say the most important relationship within any organization is the relationship between an employee and their immediate supervisor. The key, Smith will teach, is in know-how.
The learning objectives for this session include:
- To uncover their manager identity and commit to modeling the desired behavior
- The fears which can cripple teams and take steps to overcome them
- To implement a common language that keeps all team members operating with the same goals in mind
